Robo-Taxi technology will send a wave of creative destruction not just across the U.S. – but around the world. It is a global revolution. It will recreate cities, spawn new businesses, change geography, slash transportation costs and build fortunes.  

Because the entire automotive sector is wildly inefficient. It is ripe for disruption from a technology that can do it all better, faster and most important of all – cheaper.

—> If you just think of Robo-Taxis as a replacement for ride-hailing services like Uber and traditional taxis, they can be wildly profitable. Uber drivers make $25 an hour, which means they take 50%-60% of all fares

—> And the cars themselves will be cheaper. Tesla says its Robo-Taxis will cost $30,000. And China’s BYD has Robo-Taxi prototypes on the road that cost around $10,000.

The average new car in the U.S. right now is over $49,000. 

That will take another bite out of the cost of a Robo-Taxi ride. 

—> Then there are the electric motors. An electric motor can be good for at least 300,000 miles and there are no $100 oil changes and virtually no regular maintenance requirements.

And the batteries can last even longer, and there’s no maintenance costs for them either.

Research firm McKinsey says operating costs for human-driven taxis are $0.70-$1.00

Baidu’s Apollo Go is hitting $0.14/mile for operating costs in 2025, 

—> Long-haul trucking costs run as high as $3.19 a mile. PwC Reasearch says Robo-trucks could cut $1 of that cost, around 30%. 

—> And how about safety? The National Highway and Traffic Safety Adminsitration (NHTSA) concludes that 93% of all car accidents – resulting in 2.3 million injuries and the 40,000 deaths in the U.S. every year – come from driver error.

But if cars are made fully and safely driverless, then 99.7 percent of road accident–related injuries would be eliminated, according to the Financial Times.

—-> Which brings us to insurance. The average American pays $2,678 a year for car insurance. And total revenue for car insurance companies in the U.S. hit a stunning $364 billion in 2024!

Globally the number is double that – $730 billion! And to top it off Fortune magazine says, on average, people only actually drive their cars 5% of the time!

—> The average car payment for a new vehicle is around $737 a month. Add insurance, gas, maintenance – AAA estimates that the cost of car ownership in the U.S. is $12,297 a year. 

—> 80% of Americans live in cities. That’s 265 million potential Robo-Taxi customers – and they could save $10,000 a year!

Robo-Taxis are a force of massive disruption. They will bring about a massive decline in costs for all transportation - from a quick trip to the store… to cross-country trips… to long-haul trucking.
